Back in 1999 Canadian Jeremy Pillipow founded his solo project Distorted Memory.
In 2002 he released his demo Left Alone to Die, limited to only fifty copies which are all sold out, and gave him a record contract with the German label NoiTekk.
They arranged a record deal with COP International for distribution in the United States and on 30th November 2006 Distorted Memory released his first full length album, Burning Heaven. Although the album title isn’t very original, the content of the disk makes up for that lack of inspiration.

Burning Heaven turned out to be a theme album, based heavily on the Christian religion. The lyrics are blasphemous in nature and deal with demons, burning heavens, and Christianity in general. According to Jeremy’s own words it is not a hatred towards God that drives him to write the lyrics, but more a hatred towards the corporate church in modern society.
The music of Distorted Memory is heavenly influenced by other musical styles such as Hard Trance and Hard Techno and probably by his own side project Cake Builder, a dark experimental drum & bass project. He also included a lot of samples from different movies, namely Omen 3, The Prophecy, The Order and Frailty, but he has promised to keep those samples to a minimum in his next release.

My favorite song of the album is without a doubt, Hellion’s Fall. This song is made up of a slow melodic tune, combined with a heavy rolling bass. It holds lots of samples, including an excerpt of the Roman Ritual, a Christian Ritual used with exorcisms. But to be honest there aren’t any bad songs on the album. All songs are of outstanding quality, all with their own sound, and very danceable. It will be a real test for Jeremy to exceed this album.
