After an impressive performance opening for Rome and The Protagonist I managed to get a copy of the promo-cd of this Belgium dark-based music project. For Greater Good present a combination of dark-ambient, neo-classical and a touch of dark-wave which has references to acclaimed acts like: Coph Nia, The Last Hour and Ordo Rosarius Equilibrio.
This promo simply called For Greater Good consists of three songs: Le Jugement du Roi en Jaune (which also can be found on the CMI sampler “For all my dead friends”), “Dawn over Dachau” and “Love Your Terrorist”. The first song “Le Jugement du Roi en Jaune” starts with a beautiful keyboard melody and the tension is build up with synthesised violins, the spoken word of vocalist Sam and finally military drum. A beautiful song indeed which grasps the listener by the throat and won’t let go until the song is finished. The second song “Dawn over Dachau” has a more ambient based structure combined with samples where an intense and gloomy atmosphere is present. The last song “Love Your Terrorist” almost immediately starts with a threatening sample and ambient structure which is enhanced with pounding drums and synths.
Although this is “only” a promo-cd every song is of a high quality standard.
All songs are pretty dark, but within each song is a glimpse of hope present which I enjoyed thoroughly. In April a full length album will be released on Cold Meat Industry and I can’t wait what will be the end result of this release.
